Emma Tierney MBACP (Accred)
Counselling and Psychotherapy and Clinical Supervision Services
I am a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered and accredited counsellor with over 17 years of experience supporting people with emotional and psychological issues. I divide my time working in private practice and alongside other organisations providing counselling and clinical supervision support to clients and frontline workers including counsellors.
I have extensive experience of working with, assessing and supporting people from many backgrounds whose difficulties range from anxiety and depression to child sexual abuse and domestic abuse.
Self-esteem, lack of confidence, anxiety, depression self-harm, trauma, PTSD and bereavement (including pregnancy and infant loss) and relationship concerns are just some of the challenges people face when contacting me for support.
Every person is unique and as an integral therapist I tailor my approach to meet each individual’s personal need. I teach self-help techniques from a combination of approaches including mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), therapeutic imagery and other creative strategies and have extensive experience in providing different strategies and techniques to help a person understand their difficulty and help manage the often-difficult moments that can manifest when someone is struggling
.
Seeking support can often feel daunting and is a big step for most people to take, I can offer you a safe, supportive and confidential space. To help you decide if you would like to work with me, I offer all new clients a complimentary 20-minute initial session where you can ask me any questions about the process and how I work.
Please see my page for some ideas around managing anxiety and trauma using grounding techniques.
